"I begin with the inspiration that comes from being out in the landscape. Painting is an exhilarating balance between using the elements of picture-making (line, shape, color, value, composition) and staying in touch with that initial spark of excitement that moved me to stop, set up the easel and start squeezing paint out of the tubes. Painting is an experience where I get to see, feel, respond, organize, edit and enjoy the materials.

A combination of formal studies, on-site landscape experience and studio work has brought me to this point, and I look forward to where future explorations lead."
